Width in Web Design
Which width is more appropriate for web page in web design?
We need to consider the width of the site in web design. Fixed width is only suitable for the functional type website and not suitable for the websites which hope visitors to browse and read carefully.
Big screen is not used to show a wider text. Big screen is not conducive to people’s health. If you must use the big screen, remember to narrow window.
The width of the main content area of the websites which hope the visitors to read careful must be fixed and cannot be too long. Otherwise it will hurt the reader’s eyes and be not suitable for reading fluency.
The most suitable width in web design is about 650mm fixed width. In web design, the width cannot be described in pixels. The measured mm width with rules on the display is basically rigorous. Of course, the width does not just say OK, as well as the eyes from the display of the distance, text size, fonts and other factors as a prerequisite.
A page is only one main content area. All others are ancillary. When a user browses, auxiliary content does not matter.
Do not use a three-column in the web design of view-based websites. Three-column design is difficult. A reasonable page does not require showing out so much content at once.
So, in the web design for browsing-type site, on the big screen, browsing and supporting regional should be separated.
The problem of width is actually a quite worthy of discussion questions.
When the screen becomes bigger and bigger and the size is more and more diversity, this issue is further highlighted. However, these results are not meaningful which are only to “Do not have a blank”, “function and content can be separated from the Ministry”. There is no room for challenge to some usability principles.
For this problem, designers should consider the way which is more useful for users rather than listening to users say which way they want. Because not all users know what manner are the most beneficial to them.
